Bournemouth Bay Event

On Sunday 3rd April, Bournemouth hosts a day of running, with 3 distances along coastal routes to appeal to all runners of all levels and abilities.

As I have personal ties with the town, I thought we may like to make a special effort this year to get as many of us down to the Dorset coast as possible to take part.

You can choose from a 5k, 10k or half marathon race, so there really is something for everyone. We’ll liftshare and convoy down on the morning of the race and hopefully make a great day of it.

Let's get ready to Relay !!!!!

The Saturday officially starts at midday with the opening ceremony, prior to that,
we'll have set up and decorated the tents and gazebo. I'd encourage as many
people to bring their tents as possible.

The relay consists of half hour sessions were a runner circles the 400m track until
it's time to hand over to the next relayer. With the current numbers there will be
a minimum of four half hours and scope for more as two can run at a time.

The running order will be issued closer to the time but you can guarantee there
will be afternoon, evening, overnight and morning runs. In between the runs
there will be plenty of entertainment including dj's, bands, line dancing and
much more. At 10 pm there is also an emotional Candle of Hope ceremony, complete
with choir.

Over 20 teams have already entered so there should be a fantastic amount of
money raised for Cancer Research.

At the last count Team Fareham Crusaders has Sarah Burnham, Tracey Lancaster,
Phill Chamberlain, Lee Gardener, Gareth Travis and Claire Jeffrey and Captain Rog.

While Team Fareham Crusaders 2 has Captain Kristy, Rak Kalidas, Liz and Paul Farquharson
and Clare Booth registered so far.

The 24 hours aren't a race it's just a case of keeping going, having fun and raising money
for Cancer Research.

The Rules:
You have 1 hour to find as many items and places on the list as possible.
Bonus points are awarded for bringing back specific items.
Special Bonus points are awarded for creativity.
If you are not back within the hour you are deducted points.
And most importantly.... YOU MUST READ THE RULES!

This past week’s photo hunt was the closest ever, with just 4 points seperating 1st and last. Ulitmately, Kirtsy’s ‘Quick Girls’ team drew for top spot with Andy’s ‘Newbies PLUS Jon & Katie’ Team.

Well done to all who got involved. Images are in the gallery. Another Photo Hunt will take place later in the summer.

Get involved on Tuesday the 25th May as the Fareham Crusaders hold their 3rd Photo Hunt.

Teams will be armed with a digital camera, a map and a list of items to photograph. They will then have 1 hour to go out and find as many things on the list, snap them and then get back before the time is up.

Afterwards we will all descend on the local pub for results, drinks and a pub dinner if you;re peckish.

So bring your cameras, a change of clothes for after and GET INVOLVED!
